Ayurveda Test to Find Your Dominant Dosha

(Test based on the one from www.ayurvedadosha.com)

Knowing your physical and mental constitution is essential to becoming familiar with Ayurveda and being able to take advantage of this ancient medicine and knowing which foods and ingredients benefit you the most when composing your food menu; as well as the organization of your activities when shaping your lifestyle.

The test presented here simply gives you an idea of your “Prakriti or Prakruti” which is like your constitution or predominant biotype among the three doshas and of which, we can have one, two, three or more in percentages. This biotype is the one with which we were born in this life, according to the disposition of our parents at the time of conceiving us.

Knowing your dominant dosha will help you better understand your personality, your body, your emotions and why you act in one way or another. In any case, an online test will never give you all the details, nor will it tell you if you have other doshas with a lot of influence, so it is important to always be observing yourself to deepen your knowledge of your Prakriti.

Hint: You can select or deselect more than one answer

Know that the three Doshas are present in every person, but normally one or two predominate. The mix of Doshas in each of us is as unique as our fingerprints. This self-test is only intended to give you hints and guide you in the right direction. It is up to you to decide what your Dosha mix actually is.

If your Dosha is Vata-Dosha

Vata people are generally thin with narrow bone structure and tend to extremes (they can be very tall or very small) or irregularities; they are light sleepers and do well in temperate climates. They are hyperactive people, burn their energy quickly and can easily get out of their harmonious state. The best way to treat Vata is to avoid repetitive behaviors and movements; climatically, avoid cold wind and seek some humidity, warmth and light. The appropriate diet is warm food with sweet, salty and sour flavors. Use oil in your meals as it acts as a lubricant for dry spots on the body. A daily massage with sesame oil and the addition of appropriate essential oils can also help. Vatas should eat frequently and in small portions to reduce digestive load. Avoid dry, bitter, acrid and irritating foods; cold drinks and foods. Do not forget to eat enough. Calm. Avoid too much travel, movement and stimulation. Meditate or practice yoga; seek the sun, wear light colors.

If your Dosha is Pitta-Dosha

Vikrti is the state of imbalance in which one of the three bodily humors or doshas is present. In this case, you have an excess of Pitta-Dosha. Pitta is the Fire Dosha (a mixture of Fire and Water). Pitta people enjoy physical activity and have a good appetite (especially for sweets and fizzy drinks) but they rarely gain or lose too much weight. They retain information easily, know how to use it, and have a good memory for things that are important to them in achieving their goals. Anything that increases stress or adds heat to the body can aggravate Pitta imbalance. So you should stop and cool down. Eat cool foods, especially those that are sweet, bitter, or astringent in taste. Look for opportunities to cool down: drink plenty of water, take a walk in a cool wind.

If your Dosha is Kapha-Dosha

Kapha people are very vigorous, sleep for long hours and deeply. They do not feel well in cold and damp climates. In general, they are calm and kind in nature, with a balanced and stable mind. They act in a thoughtful manner. The best treatment for Kapha imbalance is to get up and move! Sleep no more than 8 hours and exercise. Eat a light breakfast, a heartier lunch (and if possible, follow it with a walk). Eat a moderate amount for dinner, and if possible, fast one day a week. The most suitable foods are those that are sour, acrid and astringent. Do not drink liquids with meals, in fact, drink less. A session of sauna, Turkish bath or inipi helps a lot to promote sweating. And the best advice: have a more frequent sex life!
